Omegapoint accelerates development and merges with Norwegian IT Agency

The digitalisation of the Nordic market continues at an accelerating pace. This means that the need to build robust, scalable and secure solutions that can detect and resist attacks and intrusions is great. At the same time, the skills shortage is acute. To drive change, Swedish cybersecurity company Omegapoint and Norwegian IT consultancy ITverket are now joining forces.

IT consultants are playing an increasingly important role in the development of digital solutions for the private and public sectors. But there is a shortage of thousands of IT engineers and market demand for cybersecurity and cyber-secure digitalisation is currently outstripping supply capacity. Meeting the Nordic challenge requires cross-border cooperation.

Omegapoint, one of Sweden's leading cybersecurity companies in secure and advanced IT solutions, is seeing a steady increase in demand for its services from customers in a broader market. By joining forces with ITverket, Omegapoint is strengthening its expertise in systems integration and development, which means greater capacity to serve customers across the Nordic region. By combining expertise and experience, Omegapoint together with ITverket will establish cyber security and cyber secure digitalisation in the Norwegian market.

Omegapoint's CEO Johan Malmliden says:
Our goal is to become Northern Europe's leading player in cybersecurity and cybersecurity digitalisation. Strategic acquisitions, with a strong focus on both cultural and skills match, are part of getting there. ITverket is a leading expert company in advanced systems development in Norway that we have followed for a few years and have great respect for. The merger means that together we will be stronger throughout the Nordic region. I am very pleased and proud to welcome ITverket's employees and management to the Omegapoint family.

A 2020 report by the IT and Telecoms industry estimated that there was a shortage of around 70,000 security specialists in Sweden alone. The shortage was confirmed the following year in the final report of the Cyber Security Inquiry. To meet the need for qualified skills in cybersecurity and secure system development, Omegapoint trains nearly 100 specialists each year in the company's internal academy, which includes graduate programs and annual skills conferences - Omegapoint Academy. The merger means that the IT Agency will become a direct part of the Omegapoint Academy. Together, the companies will scale up the academy and offer more and better skills development.

ITverket's CEO Tom Henrik Rogstad says:
We at ITverket are very happy to become part of the Omegapoint group. Over time, we have built a solid consulting company with a strong culture where our employees and customers are in focus. We now have the opportunity to continue this work while strengthening our expertise in security and secure digitalisation. Together, we can offer comprehensive IT and cyber security solutions, provide the market with greater delivery capabilities and bring more expertise to the Omegapoint Academy. Our companies complement each other well and we look forward to becoming Northern Europe's leading player in cybersecurity and secure digitalisation.
