A strong move against the skills threat - Omegapoint appoints HR Director

As cyber threats grow, so does the need for secure IT solutions. In order to meet the market demand for cyber security and cyber secure services digitalisation , a better and more efficient recruitment of talent is required. Therefore, Omegapoint restructures and welcomes Lars Ulslev Johannesen as HR Director for the group.

The shortage of qualified skills in cyber security and secure system development is acute. A 2020 report by the IT and Telecoms industry estimated that there was a shortage of around 70,000 security specialists in Sweden alone. The shortage was confirmed the following year in the final report of the Cyber Security Inquiry. Attracting and retaining talent in a labour market with high demand and limited supply requires a well-functioning HR function with well-designed recruitment processes and an inclusive climate with opportunities for professional development.

Cybersecurity company Omegapoint has previously had HR teams responsible for attracting, recruiting, training, retaining and terminating employees. Now the company is strengthening the HR function by elevating it to the management team. With Lars Ulslev Johannesen as the new HR Director, Omegapoint will improve coordination, systematization and automation. This will enable the company to recruit more effectively.

-Our goal is to become Northern Europe's leading player in cybersecurity and cybersecurity digitalisation. We are investing in scaling up the HR function to enable us to grow faster and better. I'm looking forward to making that journey together with Lars, who has extensive experience in just that. It feels great and exciting to have him on board," says Johan Malmliden, CEO of Omegapoint.

Lars has extensive experience in leadership, both as HR manager and as an officer in the Danish Armed Forces. As the new HR Director for Omegapoint, he will contribute to an improved HR organisation that generates growth and development. He takes up the role on 5 September after 12 years as HR Director at Netcompany.

- It is very exciting to join the Omegapoint Group. Cyber security and cyber safe digitalisation is very close to my heart. To work on it together with good people makes me happy. Omegapoint is an exciting company and I look forward to being a part of their journey, says Lars Ulslev Johannesen.

Omegapoint is built on a culture of competence in which development is a central element. By strengthening the HR function, the company is able to work fully with a career system that enables employees to continue to grow within the company. Lars will have an important role in the work with internal competence development, especially as part of the company's internal academy - Omegapoint Academy. Lars' main task is to set requirements for the development of the Academy. This may involve setting requirements for the trainee programs, new specializations or skills that students should have upon completion of an education.

- Omegapoint Academy builds and maintains the culture of competence we need to be attractive to customers as well as employees. I see it as my responsibility to ensure that the Academy's competence development is in line with market demand and therefore very much look forward to working closely with its management team. I also look forward to contributing my knowledge and experience to the Omegapoint Academy, says Lars Ulslev Johannesen.
