Public Sector
Stockholm Region
The Stockholm Region, comprising 26 primary municipalities and more than 2.2 million people. In addition to public transport, SLL is primarily responsible for the publicly funded health care of the community in this area.
Challenge
In connection with childbirth in hospitals, the identity of the child as an individual has historically been handled manually with paper-based communication between the health care provider and the Tax Agency. In the past, it took up to several weeks before an individual birth number was assigned, resulting in costly duplication. Because of this, a faster flow needed to be developed.
Solution
Omegapoint developed a completely new electronic system with a secure and easy handling for the staff. They were responsible for the system architecture and acted as developer and production manager throughout the project. The goal of the assignment was to establish an automated, standardised and secure information exchange to speed up the birth registration process in order to simplify the handling of newborns.
Result
Today, it is possible to obtain a personal identity number "on the second" for newborns, through a simple and fast communication between the Tax Agency and the health care system with eFa (Electronic Birth Registration). The system was implemented as a module to the country's most widely used childbirth record system, which has led to its use in over 90% of the country's maternity clinics. This feature has been estimated to save over 100 million SEK each year.
